Actor Kamal Haasan landed in yet another controversy for his alleged derogatory statements. The Tamil Nadu BJP appealed to people to boycott Kamal’s films for his recent comments on Sanatana Dharma.
The state’s BJP Secretary Amar Prasad Reddy shared a video on social media, alleging that Kamal Haasan wants to destroy Sanatana Dharma and appealing to people to boycott his movies.
On Sunday, Kamal Haasan attended an event organised by actor Suriya’s Agaram Foundation. Speaking at the event, Kamal said that only education has the power to change a nation, and it is the sole weapon that can break the chains of dictatorship and Sanatana. He landed in controversy for these statements.
Sharing the video on Kamal’s comments, Reddy wrote, “I appeal to every Hindu – Boycott Kamal Haasan’s movies who wants to DESTROY Sanathana Dharma! Let this be a message: Speak against Sanatana Dharma, and face the consequences. Let’s see which actor dares to mock Hindus next.”
In the video, Reddy said that after Udhyanidhi Stalin, it was Kamal Haasan who made comments on Sanatana Dharma in a negative light. He said that people should boycott their films to teach them a lesson for making irresponsible statements on Sanatana Dharma, hurting the sentiments of millions of Hindus.
Just a couple of months ago, Kamal was criticised for commenting on the Kannada language, saying that it was born from Tamil. Hurt by his statements, the Karnataka Film Chamber banned his film Thug Life for a month.
