Several key Telugu film producers met AP Cinematography Minister Kandula Durgesh to discuss industry issues and present their requests. The main appeal was to arrange an appointment with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan. Although there were reports two months ago about such a meeting with industry heads, it did not happen at the time.
This time, a team led by DVV Danayya and Bunny Vas met the minister and submitted a list of concerns. They requested the government to officially recognize the film industry, address the problems faced by film workers and producers, provide necessary subsidies for small films, support distributors and exhibitors, and draft a new policy for the growth of the Telugu film sector.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Minister Durgesh assured that he would try to arrange the meeting with the CM and Deputy CM, and that the government would work on resolving other issues. He mentioned that many of these concerns involve both Telugu states, so the decision will be taken after due consideration.
Durgesh also encouraged producers to invest in Andhra Pradesh, especially in Visakhapatnam, Amaravati, and Tirupati. He said that incentives and land allocations will be given for building studios, re-recording theatres, and dubbing theatres. He further suggested that filmmakers use the state’s developing tourist destinations for shoots to support AP’s tourism growth.
