That there are several closely knit groups in Tollywood is an open secret. Even though certain bigwigs of the Telugu film industry greet each other cordially in public events, the dynamics within the film fraternity are entirely different, which occasionally comes out in the open.
Veteran Tollywood producer Allu Aravind’s latest comments about the coteries in Tollywood are going viral on the web. Allu Aravind was one of the special guests at the SIIMA event to facilitate the National Film Awards winners this evening.
Addressing the media, Allu Aravind said, “Telugu cinema had won seven National Awards. I congratulate SIIMA’s Vishnu and Brinda for taking the initiative to facilitate the award winners even before the industry honoured them. “You know how the industry is. Evari kumpati vaaride (Everybody has his own coterie). That’s why we are not able to do anything worthwhile,” the senior producer said.
Needless to say, Allu Aravind’s statement highlights the lack of unity among industry wallahs. Usually, the Film Chamber or Movie Artiste’s Association (MAA) felicitate the National Award winners every time. Surprisingly, no event to honour the award winners has been announced to date, even though it’s been over 2 weeks since the awards were announced. Whether or not the industry wakes up and does its job following Allu Aravind’s statement remains to be seen.
