The simultaneous release of Coolie and War 2 has been the biggest clash at the Indian box office so far. Fans have also started trending #CoolWar, celebrating this big clash.
Both movies hit screens yesterday, and considering the first day earnings, it was Rajinikanth and Nagarjuna’s Coolie which had the upper hand on Jr NTR and Hrithik Roshan-starrer War 2.
According to the reports, Coolie collected more than Rs.150 crores worldwide on its first day, with first-day earnings of over Rs. 66 crores in India. Reportedly, this is an all-time record opening in the Tamil film industry. With these mammoth collections, Rajinikanth once again proved his monstrous dominance in Kollywood.
On the other side, War 2 reportedly collected over Rs. 80 crore worldwide on its first day, with India collections of around Rs. 50 crore. Everyone thought that the film would get a 100 crore opening, but it couldn’t. Also, NTR missed a hat-trick of 100-crore openings, after RRR and Devara.
As per the current trend, Coolie shows dominance over War 2 at the box office throughout this weekend. Meanwhile, we have to see if War 2 picks up steadily over this long holiday weekend.
