Director SS Rajamouli decided to merge the two parts of the Baahubali franchise into a single film titled Baahubali: The Epic. The film’s teaser was released yesterday, but there is no clarity on which scenes have been cut and what modifications have been made. However, in a recent interview, the director provided clarity about some of the scenes he decided to cut.
Since the film has been out for ten years, the makers are opting for this move. Initially, Rajamouli visualised both films as a single film, but since it is too vast to fit into a film, they decided to release the movie in two parts. The team is also teasing the audience with a few surprises in store for this epic movie.
Sharing insights into editing the movie, Rajamouli said, “Editing the combined runtime of 5 hours and 27 minutes into one seamless version was perhaps the hardest part of this journey. We went through intense debates and even heated arguments about what to keep and what to remove. Every scene and song in Baahubali is precious to me, so making those choices was never easy, but some sacrifices had to be made.”
The sacrifices include letting go of the Kannaa Nidurinchara song and romantic sequences between Shivudu (Prabhas) and Avanthika (Tamannaah Bhatia). At the time of the release, there was a lot of criticism on these portions and the team seems to have worked on the same.
