Anushka Shetty, who is currently enjoying a successful phase in her career, is coming up with an intense action drama Ghaati, directed by Krish under First Frame Entertainments and UV Creations. Ahead of the film’s release, Anushka interacted with the media and shared her thoughts about the project.
Ghaati also marks a significant milestone, 20 years of Anushka’s journey in cinema. Reflecting on this, the actress said she feels truly excited about reaching this incredible landmark.
“The character of Sheelavathi in Ghaati is unique and powerful, something I’ve never attempted before,” Anushka said. “The role has beautiful layers and pushed me completely out of my comfort zone.”
She went on to draw parallels with her earlier roles. “In the past, I’ve played strong characters in films like Arundhathi, Rudhramadevi, Baahubali, and Bhaagamathie. Sheelavathi is also immensely strong but comes with a distinct shade of her own. Women might appear gentle on the outside, but in critical situations, they become pillars of strength. That’s a quality I deeply admire in women, and Krish has beautifully captured that strength in Sheelavathi.”
Ghaati also reunites Anushka with director Krish, following their successful collaboration in Vedham. “After Vedham, we wanted to work on a story that could carry forward the essence of Saroja’s character. But we waited organically for the right script. When Ghaati came my way, it felt perfect. Krish has always given me unforgettable roles, and I’m very thankful to him. Sheelavathi is a character that will be remembered for ages.”
Anushka also spoke fondly of her co-star, Vikram Prabhu. “I’ve admired him since Kumki. He’s a thorough gentleman and fits the role of Desi Raju perfectly.”
Looking ahead, the actress revealed she has a strong line-up in the works and is currently listening to various promising scripts.
