The 2023 National Award-winning Telugu film Baby is now being remade in Hindi. Sai Razesh, who helmed the original version, is also directing it in Hindi. The lead cast of the film has not officially been announced yet. Initially, Irrfan Khan’s son, Babil Khan, was part of the project, but he walked out of it due to creative differences.
Baby is the kind of film which appeals to Gen Z audiences. People on Telugu social media feel that, looking at the storm created by Saiyaara at the box office, Baby, which appeals to the same generation, might also work well with the North Indian audiences. It has a love story which appeals to the Gen Z youth and also a few controversial sequences which bring more attention on social media.
When released, Baby created havoc on social media, with a section of the audience objecting to its portrayal of a triangular love story. Irrespective of such criticism, the film went on to become a huge success at the box office.
Director Sai Razesh feels that only a section of the audience on Twitter (now X) had a problem with Baby, but the rest of the audience received it very well. He opined that a few people may try to stir up a controversy with the Hindi version too, but he believes that most people would love it.
Speaking on the red carpet event of SIIMA, Sai Razesh said he incorporated certain changes to the Hindi version, making it even better than the original, but he also assured that he didn’t make any changes to the sequences that created controversy among certain sections of audiences on social media.
