How safe is Bellamkonda’s Kishkindhapuri

Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas’ latest outing Kishkindhapuri entered theatres amidst high expectations and bold claims from the actor himself. Before release, Bellamkonda confidently said the film would surpass his earlier hit Rakshasudu. While the film opened to mixed reviews from critics, the box office story has turned out quite different.

The horror comedy angle worked strongly in favour of the film. Audiences, especially in B and C centres, connected well with the entertaining elements, while city multiplexes also reported healthy occupancy. Paid premieres, planned on a big scale by producer Sahu Garapati, created positive momentum right from the start.

Despite the mixed talk, the movie held steady over the weekend and even on Monday, with no major drop in collections. Advance bookings for the week are encouraging, showing that the film has managed to win consistent audience interest.

Financially, Kishkindhapuri is a safe bet. Made on a budget of ₹32 crore, nearly 80 percent was already recovered through digital rights, thanks to Bellamkonda’s strong market in Hindi. Theatrical rights were sold for under ₹10 crore, ensuring easy break-even. Within a few days, the film crossed the break-even mark in all centres and entered into profit zone.

At the end of the day, Kishkindhapuri proves that Bellamkonda’s belief in his content was not misplaced. The horror comedy touch, combined with his fan base, turned what seemed risky into a commercially safe venture.
