Bollywood is currently buzzing with Shah Rukh Khan’s son, Aryan Khan’s debut on the streaming service Netflix. With the web series, Ba***ds of Bollywood, Aryan Khan made a decent debut and earned praise for his skill. However, the series ran into a controversy now, centering around Ranbir Kapoor who played a special cameo in it.
Ranbir Kapoor was shown using a banned e-cigarette on the screen, without any statutory warning. The National Human Rights Commission received a complaint regarding the same. After verifying the details, NHRC has asked the Information and Broadcasting Ministry and Mumbai Police to submit an action taken report.
NHRC argues that Ranbir endorsing e-cigarettes will potentially mislead young viewers and violate the Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes Act. Already, there have been several complaints that the OTT services do not have censorship. In such a scenario, this complaint would trigger more discussion over the same.
