Homebound has recently been chosen as India’s official entry for the 2026 Oscars in the Best International Feature Film category. Out of 24 films considered, including five Telugu films. It premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and also at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Janhvi Kapoor got attention at a press event in Mumbai while promoting Homebound. By wearing her mother’s saree, Janhvi paid tribute to Sridevi. She wore a royal blue saree that belonged to her late mother, Sridevi. The saree, paired with gold jewelry, was originally worn by Sridevi at cricketer Virat Kohli and actor Anushka Sharma’s wedding reception in 2017.
Directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, Homebound tells the story of two childhood friends from a small village in North India. They dream of joining the police but face challenges due to caste and religion. The film is produced by Karan Johar and Adar Poonawalla and stars Janhvi Kapoor, Ishaan Khatter, and Vishal Jethwa. The film is scheduled to release in India on September 26.
