There is no stopping for Kantara: Chapter 1 at the box office, as the film dominated other films during its second weekend as well. Although there was a significant drop in weekday collections, the movie rebounded well on Saturday and Sunday. The lacklustre performance of new releases like Sasivadane, Constable, and Ari also made audiences opt for Kantara. Meanwhile, it has also dominated Pawan Kalyan’s OG, which remains the only major film successfully running in theatres.
Not only in Telugu, but Kantara is also doing well in Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, and Malayalam. Especially, the film is creating a rampage in Karnataka. Already, the film crossed the 500-crore mark in just 10 days of its release. Considering the current speed, it is expected to collect 200-300 crores easily in the next few days.
While the film became a huge blockbuster in India, it is struggling to cross the breakeven mark in the United States. Huge advances are to blame for the movie’s collections in the USA. The collections dripped in Hindi initially, but Rishab Shetty made sure to visit the single screens in North India to ensure a growth in earnings. He is also giving non-stop interviews for the Hindi media, helping the film get more collections.
This week, there are big releases in Telugu like Dude, Telusu Kada and K-Ramp, in Tamil like Dude and Bison and in Hindi like Thamma. So, Kantara might witness a drop in collections by the end of this week. But if those films fail to perform well, then Kantara might continue its dream run at the box office.
