One of the most anticipated films of this year, War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, ended up as a colossal disaster at the box office. The film failed to live up to the expectations and turned out to be a major disappointment for the audience. What was a disaster in theatres has now become the most-watched film in India after its theatrical release.
War 2 premiered on Netflix on October 9. According to the latest report by Ormax, War 2 registered the largest number of views on OTT in India (during October 6 – October 12). Reportedly, the film garnered over 3.5 million views on Netflix within days of its digital premiere. Superstar Rajinikanth’s Coolie’s Hindi version also premiered on OTT last week, but it couldn’t surpass the numbers of War 2. Both Coolie and War 2 had a simultaneous theatrical release on August 14.
Meanwhile, fans are a bit relieved to see this good reception for the film upon its OTT premiere, which didn’t happen during its theatrical run.
Directed by Ayan Mukherjee, War 2 features Kiara Advani as the female lead. Anil Kapoor, Ashutosh Rana and Varun Badola played other key roles in the film.
