Director Vetrimaaran and actor Simbu have teamed up for a new film set in the Vada Chennai universe. Though it’s not a sequel, the film expands the world introduced in Vada Chennai, marking Vetrimaaran’s first attempt at creating a cinematic universe.
Titled Arasan in Tamil, the film’s promo will be released in theatres across Tamil Nadu on October 16. The makers also plan to attach the promo to Diwali releases. Anirudh Ravichander is composing the music, marking his first collaboration with both Simbu and Vetrimaaran.
Along with the Tamil promo, the team will also unveil the Telugu version titled Samrajyam. Jr NTR will launch the Telugu promo on Friday, October 17. This development has sparked speculation about NTR’s possible collaboration with Vetrimaaran or Simbu.
During Devara promotions in Chennai, NTR had expressed his interest in working with Vetrimaaran, even saying he wouldn’t mind doing a Tamil film that could later be dubbed into Telugu. In response, Vetrimaaran confirmed that the two had discussed ideas and plan to collaborate once their current projects are complete.
Meanwhile, NTR is busy with Devara Part 2, which is in pre-production. Though the sequel continues from Part 1, it will introduce new characters, and reports suggest Simbu has been approached for a key role. If things fall into place, fans might soon witness either NTR and Vetrimaaran teaming up or NTR sharing screen space with Simbu in Devara 2.
