Exclusive: Sankranthi 2026 Release Dates

Sankranthi is one of the busiest periods for Telugu cinema. Families who rarely visit theaters during the year tend to watch at least one film together during the festival. This leads to higher footfalls, and it is often observed that films performing average during other times see better results during this season. Every year, several notable films target this window, and 2026 is no different, with six films already announced for release.

The Raja Saab – January 09
Starring Prabhas, this horror-fantasy film is directed by Maruthi. The film blends comedy, reminiscent of Prabhas’ earlier roles, with elements of horror. It is one of the highly anticipated releases of the festival.

Jana Nayakudu (Dubbed) – January 09
The Telugu dubbed version of the Tamil film Jana Nayagan, starring Thalapathy Vijay. This film marks Vijay’s final release before entering full-time politics.

Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu – January 12
Directed by Anil Ravipudi, the film features Chiranjeevi and Nayanthara. It is planned as a festival entertainer, though the official release date is yet to be confirmed.

RT76 – January 13
Ravi Teja stars in this family comedy-drama, directed by Kishore Tirumala. The film, tentatively titled, Bharta Mahaseyalaku Vignapthi targets Sankranthi audiences with a lighthearted story.

Anaganaga Oka Raju – January 14
Naveen Polishetty leads this comedy entertainer, directed by debutant Maari. Set against the Godavari backdrop, the film is attracting attention among youth and family audiences.

Nari Nari Naduma Murari – January 15 – TBD
Sharwanand stars in this long-delayed project directed by Ram Abbaraju of Samajavaragamana fame. The film is scheduled for release during the festival period, though it’s unlikely to make it due to the rush of other releases in the same window.
