A re-release usually comes and goes quietly, but Baahubali: The Epic Cut is shaking up theatres like a brand-new blockbuster. The hype is massive. For the October 31 release, tickets in top Hyderabad screens like Sudarshan and Bhramaramba are already almost sold out. People are rushing in for the 3 hour 44 minute big-screen experience, not just Prabhas fans but general audience too.
This sudden storm is affecting new releases. Ravi Teja’s Mass Jathara team is now thinking of pushing the movie by a day. Producer Naga Vamsi is reportedly planning to go full scale from November 1 instead of clashing directly on October 31. Even if they have confidence in the content, going head-to-head with Baahubali’s hype is a big risk. Ravi Teja fans are hoping for a strong comeback, but this Baahubali wave has turned into an unexpected speed breaker.
On the other side, Tamil actor Vishnu Vishal is also struggling because of this timing. His new psycho thriller Aryan is planned for a simultaneous release in Tamil and Telugu on October 31. He has a lot of belief in this film and is promoting it aggressively, especially after missing the impact he expected when the original Rakshasudu was dubbed without him being involved. But now, with Baahubali dominating the buzz, only a unanimous positive talk can save Aryan from getting overshadowed.
Now it’s turning into a three-way test at the box office, but Baahubali clearly has the first move and the biggest momentum. Let’s see who survives this wave.
