Hit In Theatres; Blockbuster On OTT?

Director-turned-actor Pradeep Ranganathan has scored his third consecutive success with his recent film, Dude. Starring Mamitha Baiju as the female lead, Dude released during the Diwali season and emerged as a good hit at the box office.

Now, after its premiere on Netflix, the film is receiving an even more raging response from the audience. Usually, films that do well theatrically tend to get mixed or negative responses on OTT, but Dude is surprisingly receiving more positive reactions after its digital release than during its theatrical run.

Many users on social media are sharing video clips and standout scenes from the film and are praising the writing and Sai Abhyankar’s background score. Whether it’s the quirky introduction scene, the interval block, the hilarious wedding dance sequence, or the emotional moments, several scenes are trending across social media.

Especially, music director Sai Abhyankar is now receiving more appreciation than he did during the theatrical release. Audiences are now highly excited for his upcoming projects, which include big-ticket films like Suriya’s Karuppu and the Allu Arjun–Atlee project.

Dude was a decent theatrical hit, and going by its OTT reception, it might become an OTT blockbuster, which is a rare case. The film is currently streaming in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi.
