Mahesh Babu and Rajamouli are working together for the upcoming Telugu film titled Varanasi. The film’s launch took place grandly in Hyderabad today. Speaking at the event, Rajamouli made it clear that they are introducing a new technology with the movie, named Premium Large Scale Format, for IMAX.
Rajamouli had explained that usually the films are shot in cinema scope format and will later be converted to IMAX but this is not the case with this movie.
“We are introducing a new technology to Telugu cinema, ‘Premium large-scale format IMAX’. Usually, we take in a normal camera and convert to IMAX format. Films like Baahubali & RRR were produced in IMAX. But Varanasi will be in full-screen format,” shared Rajamouli.
Explaining that Superstar Krishna is the one who introduced a lot of new technologies to the cinema industry, his son Mahesh Babu also comes up with a new technology with Varanasi. The film will be watched in full screen upon the release.
Durga Arts bankrolls the movie along with Showing Business. The film hits the screens during 2027 Summer.
