F1, starring Brad Pitt, is one of the biggest blockbusters this year, collecting a total of around $1.8 billion. Directed by Joseph Kosinski, F1 was a sports drama made on the Formula 1 racing and features Brad Pitt in the role of a veteran racer named Sonny Hayes.
After the blockbuster success of the film, director Joseph Kosinski hinted at a possible sequel during the Emmy Awards this year.
Now, he said that the sequel is currently in the early stages of discussions and they are exploring the possibilities of the future of Sonny Hayes and Team Apex GP.
Speaking at the Academy’s Governor Awards event last night, Joseph said, “We are in that stage where we are just kind of dreaming up what the next chapter for Sonny Hayes would be and for Apex GP. But, you know, based on the reaction from around the world to this movie, it’s something people want to see, and we would be happy to go back and do it because we had so much fun making this one.”
After watching F1, many fans have also wished for a possible sequel and going by the words of the director himself, we may get a chance to watch that much-awaited second part in the near future.
