Will Santhana Concept Grab North Audience’s Attention?

As the release date is nearing, the makers of Akhanda 2 have intensified promotions and released the theatrical trailer last night. Unlike the first part, the team is opting for a pan-India release for this film and not a single-language release. More importantly, the team has been betting big on the North Indian market, considering the appeal of the content.

Going by the trailer and statements of director Boyapati Srinu, it is clear that  Akhanda 2 has “Sanathana Hindu Dharmam” as its core plot. Films made on Hinduism, Hindu mythology and Sanatana Dharma have a pan-India appeal. So, it has to be seen if this Sanatana Dharma-oriented concept will grab the North Indian audience’s attention and bring a good opening to the film in the Hindi-speaking belt.

The theatrical trailer of Akhanda 2 featured Balayya taking on the evil forces to safeguard the Hindu Dharma. It also featured powerful dialogues like, “Ee Prapanchamlo Ye Desham Vellina Meeku Akkada Kanipinchedi Oke Matham. Ee Deshamlo Etu Chusina Meeku Kanipinchedi Oke Dharmam. Sanatana Haindhava Dharmam.” Also, explaining the film’s plot in a statement, Boyapati Srinu said, “Deshanni Apakeerthiloki Theesukelladaniki Prayathnisthe…Dharmame Trishulam Pettukoni Yuddhaniki Diguthundi.”

All these factors project Akhanda 2 as a hardcore action drama about protecting Sanatana Dharma. It has a good potential to click with the audience if the content is good. So, it remains to be seen how it will attract the people in the north. Akhanda 2 is slated for worldwide release on December 5.
