Three days ahead of its release, Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Akhanda 2 secured ticket rate hikes in Andhra Pradesh. Along with the hike, the government of Andhra Pradesh also allowed paid premieres/benefit shows on December 4.
With the AP government allowing a ticket price hike, it remains to be seen if the Telangana government will also permit the film makers to increase ticket prices in the state.
In AP, Akhanda 2’s benefit shows will be held between 8 pm to 10 pm on December 4th with a ticket rate of Rs. 600, including GST. From December 5, the film secured a hike of Rs. 75 on single-screen tickets and Rs. 100 for multiplex tickets. That means the single screen ticket prices will be 222, and the multiplex prices will be around Rs. 277 in the state. These prices will be applicable for the first 10 days of the release.
Now, we have to see if the Telangana government also allows the hike. Earlier, Telangana CM Revanth Reddy said that permission for ticket rate hikes will be given if producers agree to give 20% share in profits to film workers.
If Akhanda 2’s producers agree to these terms and conditions, they might be allowed to increase ticket rates, as well as paid premieres, in the state.
As benefit shows are confirmed in AP, it is better to hold them in Telangana as well, to avoid the time gap. We may get clarity about TG ticket rate hikes by tomorrow.
