Akhanda 2, the sequel to the Balakrishna–Boyapati Sreenu blockbuster, was originally slated for a December 5 release with premieres planned on December 4. The production house later announced that the film would be postponed to a later date.
No new date has been confirmed so far, leading to a wave of speculation online, including talk of Christmas and Sankranthi slots. Meanwhile, fans who had campaigned aggressively until December 5 have now rallied behind a specific demand. On Sunday evening, NBK fans took to X and began trending the hashtag #WeWantAkhanda2OnDec12th.
Citing the crowded Christmas and Sankranthi windows, they argued that December 12 would offer the film a better run at theatres. They also believe the film’s current buzz makes an earlier release strategically stronger.
Industry talk suggests the makers are evaluating the Christmas weekend to take advantage of the holiday footfalls. Even so, fans continue tagging the production house, 14 Reels Plus, urging them to consider December 12.
For now, the situation remains unclear. The team still needs to address several pending factors before locking a final release date, and there is no confirmed update on the film’s status.
Akhanda 2 Thaandavam stars Nandamuri Balakrishna, Samyukta Menon and Aadi Pinisetty. It is written and directed by Boyapati Sreenu, produced by Raam Achanta and Gopi Achanta under 14 Reels Plus, and presented by M. Tejaswini Nandamuri. Music is by Thaman S.
