Nandamuri Balakrishna’s much hyped sequel to his blockbuster Akhanda got postponed in the last minute just before its release on December 5th due to financial issues and legal entangles. The unprecedented postponement has become a talking point in Tollywood.
After clearing all hurdles, the makers have now officially announced that Akhanda 2 will hit the screens on December 12th. Despite not hitting the screens last Friday and uncertainty prevailing on the release date until today, Akhanda 2 still carries the same hysteria among audience.
Moreover, the controversy and chaos on the release date has intensified the buzz further in the last few days because even neutral audience have offered support for the film and expected that the legal issues and financial disputes are sorted out quickly.
Even though the film is now postponed by a week, the openings are likely to be quite phenomenal because of the craze on Balakrishna – Boyapati Srinu combination. If the film manages to garner postive reports, it has strong chances to create a mass havoc at the box office in Telugu states.
Bollywood film Dhurandhar is performing well with its Hindi version even in the Telugu states, especially after Akhanda 2 was postponed. So, Akhanda 2 is likely to dent Dhurandhar’s strong run if the Balayya–Boyapati combo gets positive talk, which could lead to more screens being added.
Also, it has a good chance to strike big in the North belt because of its genre and the huge anticipation among the Hindi audience, especially if the Sanatana Dharma element connects with them.
