Akhanda 2 Producers Missing at Success Meet : What Happened?

Akhanda 2, released on Friday and opened to mixed reviews and decent box office revenues. To thank fans, the media and audiences, the team conducted a success meet on Sunday evening in Hyderabad. Nandamuri Balakrishna, Boyapati Sreenu, Thaman and other cast and crew members attended the event, but the producers of the film were noticeably absent.

It is widely known that Akhanda 2, which was initially scheduled for release on December 5, was postponed to December 12 due to legal hurdles and financial disputes. The team took a week to resolve the issues, settled matters with those who filed cases, obtained court clearance, and released the film in theatres on December 12. Throughout this journey, the audience was well aware of what the team went through, and the situation was quite transparent to everyone.

Producers Raam Achanta and Gopi Achanta held a brief press meet on the release day, where only the two of them appeared. No other team members were present at the time. On the same day, Boyapati Sreenu and Thaman held separate success celebrations, where the producers were not seen.

On Sunday, the entire team conducted a success meet, but the producers were missing. Usually, no success meet takes place without the presence of the producers. This led a section of fans and audiences to wonder whether the release hurdles caused any dispute between the producers and Balakrishna and Boyapati Sreenu.

Adding to the speculation, Nandamuri Balakrishna and Boyapati Sreenu did not utter a word about the producers during the event. Time will tell whether they were upset with the producers over the issues that delayed the release.

Meanwhile, producers Raam Achanta and Gopi Achanta visited the Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy Varla Devasthanam in Srisailam on the same day the success meet took place in Hyderabad. That said, the producers’ absence and the lack of any mention did not go unnoticed.

Speaking at the event, Thaman, who composed the music for the film, stressed that the Telugu film industry lacks unity. He questioned why cases were filed just before the release if there were genuine concerns, instead of doing so earlier. He noted that people have become selfish these days.

Thaman also pointed out that many from the industry go to the media offering suggestions, but if they truly care, they should come directly to the production house and sit with the producers, rather than taking internal issues to the outside world. He concluded by saying that if someone is wounded, bandage it, don’t play the band around it.
