Kantara Actor Breaks The Silence On Ranveer’s Controversy

Bollywood star Ranveer Singh is no stranger to controversies. From the beginning of his career, even when there was no intention to offend, certain incidents have managed to land him in trouble.

During the IFFI festival held in Goa last month, Ranveer Singh praised Rishab Shetty for his powerful performance in Kantara Chapter 1. However, while expressing his admiration, Ranveer imitated Goddess Chamundi, a move that did not go down well with a section of Kannadigas and Hindu audiences.

Rishab Shetty had already hinted to Ranveer not to do such gestures before he came on stage. Despite this, Ranveer went ahead. Even though his act was meant in a positive way, devotional sentiments are sensitive, and such portrayals can easily hurt people’s emotions. Things got worse when Ranveer, in the flow of the moment, referred to Goddess Chamundi as a “female ghost,” which further fueled outrage on social media.

Following the backlash, Ranveer Singh posted an apology on Instagram, stating that he never intended to disrespect any culture and expressed regret if his actions hurt anyone’s sentiments.

Now, Rishab Shetty has finally reacted, without directly naming Ranveer Singh. Speaking at a Behindwoods event in Chennai a few days ago, Rishab stated that imitating divine elements on stage, in reels, or on social media is not appropriate.

He clearly mentioned that such acts make him feel “uncomfortable.” Rishab also revealed that he and the Kantara team have repeatedly requested people not to recreate or imitate divine references casually.

This incident once again highlights how even unintentional praise can turn into controversy. It is perhaps a reminder for actors and stars to be more mindful while dealing with faith, culture, and devotional sentiments, especially on public platforms.
