Akhanda 2 opened to mixed reviews and also faced online criticism, mostly aimed at the director’s style. Even then, Boyapati did not slow down. His constant public presence helped the film stay relevant on social media and kept the discussion alive. Despite the mixed talk, Balakrishna’s craze was once again reflected in the collections.
Despite being a senior filmmaker, Boyapati Sreenu remained fully involved even after the film’s release. For nearly twenty days, he continued promotions without taking a step back.
Interestingly, the film posted better numbers last Sunday than many expected. While the main criticism focused on the director going overboard in a few scenes, a strong section of the audience connected with the film. Mass viewers and those who relate to its core theme have continued to support it.
The film has also benefited from limited competition. In recent weeks, no major release has received strong word of mouth, including Hollywood big films like Avatar Fire and Ash.
At a time when many filmmakers distance themselves from a project after mixed feedback, Boyapati chose to stay visible and confident. His continued promotions have clearly helped maintain footfalls, even as the film enters its third week.
