Veteran producer Anil Sunkara spoke to Gulte Pro in an open interview with Ram Venkat Srikar. He looked back at his 16 year journey in the Telugu film industry and spoke honestly about success, failures, and his upcoming Sankranthi release Action.
Anil Sunkara said his start in cinema was very positive. His first four films became hits, giving him strong confidence. But he also accepted that cinema is unpredictable. After Covid, he faced several losses that affected him mentally and financially. Even then, encouragement from actors and filmmakers helped him stay in the industry, though he had the option to return to his US businesses.
Talking about his approach to filmmaking, Sunkara said trust is most important. When he supports a director, he believes in their thinking and vision. He also shared that he stays in touch with almost all the directors he has worked with, no matter how their films performed.
He revealed that he prefers reading a full script rather than listening to a narration. This helps him understand the story clearly and imagine the film in his own way.
Looking ahead, the producer expressed strong confidence in Naari Naari Naduma Murari, his upcoming Sankranthi film. He believes festival releases have a special advantage and hopes the film will connect well with family audiences.
