Sree Leela has seen a notable rise in Tollywood, earning good popularity and craze within a relatively short time compared to many of her contemporaries.
Her impeccable dancing skills and glamorous screen presence made her the star she is now. Despite not scoring big hits, Sree Leela secured big-ticket offers because of her Telugu roots and also due to her commendable acting performances.
Unfortunately, her recent outings failed to bring any recognition to the happening starlet. Films like Guntur Kaaram, Robinhood, Extra Ordinary, Adhikeshava, Junior and Mass Jathara ended on a disappointing note at the box office and hardly managed to give her any credit because of the flimsy roles she portrayed in these films.
She pinned big hopes on her maiden Tamil outing Parasakthi, which stars Sivakarthikeyan in the lead role. After facing several censor hurdles and triggering controversies, the period drama finally hit the screens today amid good buzz among Kollywood audiences.
As the film addresses a contemporary subject, it was expected to take an impressive start at the box office and benefit largely because of the postponement of Thalapathy Vijay’s Jana Nayagan.
But, the film opened to mixed reports on the first day. Despite having a strong premise on paper, Parasakthi failed to secure unanimous talk due to several narrative shortcomings. The public talk has been so-so and the movie needs a big boost during the first weekend.
Sree Leela desperately wished that collaborating with lady filmmaker Sudha Kongara would give her career a big push in Tamil and also end her flop streak. Unfortunately, the talk has been underwhelming and the openings are mediocre.
She promoted the movie aggressively over the past few days. She even maintained her character’s attire and hairstyle throughout the entire promotional campaign, hoping it would create additional buzz and attract attention from different regions. However, despite all these efforts, the response so far hasn’t lived up to expectations.
The public talk for Parasakthi has so far been lukewarm and it needs a big turn around during the festival season. Will Sree Leela’s long wait to score a hit continues or will Parasakthi end her flop streak ? Only time will answer.
