When it is about creating hype for a film, no other Indian director is even a match to SS Rajamouli, who redefined movie promotions with Baahubali and RRR. His shrewd marketing strategies and aggressive approach in giving a wide publicity for his films often grabs global attention. He seems to be adopting a similar technique for his next project as well.
After drawing the eyeballs of moviegoers across the world with a spectacular title launch event in November last year for his upcoming film Varanasi, Rajamouli has now pulled off a big surprise with a unique and unexpected move that has now become a major talking point all over and also sparked huge excitement.
Out of nowhere and without giving any hint, Rajamouli has kick started the promotional campaign of the Mahesh Babu starrer with just one big hoarding in Varanasi. It displays the message “In Theatres April 7, 2027”, which is a subtle announcement of the release date. Choosing the holy city of Varanasi to erect these flexes has now created a massive anticipation for the film all over the globe.
As soon as the images of the flexes went viral on social media, intense speculations and discussions quickly gained traction and in no time it turned out be a sensational news from North to South. Even international media is also going gaga over this update as the film is gearing up for a huge release in foreign countries due to Rajamouli’s global popularity after Baahubali and RRR.
Though there is no official announcement from the team, the silent and out-of-the-box strategy to reveal the release date has created a massive impact and turned out be a trending topic. Rajamouli’s has once again proved why he is a master in building hype for his films with his brilliant ideas.
More interestingly, the team has unveiled the release date poster through various official social handles of domestic and Hollywood media houses, much to the surprise of everyone. Usually, such big announcements are generally made by the team itself after creating a lot of anticipation. But, Rajamouli has other plans. May be, this has further piqued the curiosity and resulted in solid buzz.
Before this development, there was widespread speculation that Varanasi might target March end release. But, Rajamouli seems to be targeting the auspicious Ugadhi ( Telugu New Year) festival to release the globe-trotting action adventure which is a time travel drama based on Indian mythology and infused with fantasy.
In November last year, the team unveiled a series of first look posters of all leading characters in the film which culminated in a swashbuckling title teaser that created tremors for its riveting cut.
