Will Jana Nayagan Makers Trim Crucial 20 Min Footage ?

Thalapathy Vijay’s farewell film Jana Nayagan already suffered a huge damage to its theatrical prospects after missing out on the crucial Pongal season due to legal hurdles. Even after prolonged court battle that lasted over a month, the team couldn’t secure any relief so far, further delaying the release plans. 

With Tamil Nadu elections round the corner, the makers are now running out of time as the film is projected to give some public mileage to Vijay who is set take a plunge into full time politics this year. To realise this goal, Jana Nayagan should hit the screens before the model code of conduct comes into force. 

Recently, there were reports that the production house decided to settle the matter outside the court and agreed to make necessary changes suggested by the CBFC. It is believed that censor team has asked the team to chop some scenes and comply with its directions. 

As per the latest buzz in Kollywood media, the team is said to be planning to trim some crucial 20 minutes footage and submit the final copy to the revised screening committee for a smooth release. If this news turns out to be true, there are chances that the film will hit the screens this month. Mostly, the team might target February 13th as the new release date. 

As the film contains political theme and also the fact that this is the final on-screen appearance of Vijay, there will be solid patronage from his fans and common audiences irrespective of the reviews and word of mouth. So, the team shouldn’t waste the opportunity and release the film before elections as any further delay will only dilute the hype. 

Releasing the film after polls might not evoke similar buzz because any negative outcome will have a considerable impact on Vijay’s image.

Directed by H Vinoth, the film is touted to be a commercial fare infused with political elements. It also features Bobby Deol, Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Menon, Prakash Raj, and others with music composed by Anirudh Ravichander.
