Allu Arjun’s big budget blockbuster, Pushpa 2 has opened well at the Japan box office and is slowly creating curiosity among movie lovers there. In its first two weeks, the action drama recorded around 17K footfalls and collected nearly ¥105 million, which is about ₹6.1 crore. This is a decent and encouraging start for an Indian film in Japan.
These numbers clearly show the growing reach of Telugu cinema in overseas markets. On the other hand, when Rajamouli’s RRR released in Japan, it collected around ¥140 million in its first two weeks which is a record yet to be broken by any Telugu film to date.
However, the real surprise came later, as RRR witnessed a phenomenal word-of-mouth response and went on to enjoy a long theatrical run of nearly 30 weeks, eventually earning close to ₹120 crore in its full run. Now, the big question is whether Pushpa 2 can follow a similar path and make money like RRR?.
Everything will depend on audience response, repeat viewings, and how strongly the film connects with Japanese viewers. If the same positive buzz continues, Pushpa 2 could also have a steady and extended run. Otherwise, it may finish its Japan journey on a dull note. Let’s see what happens in the days to come.
