Watch: Gulte Pro’s Fun Conversation with Vishwak & Kayadu

Vishwak Sen and Kayadu Lohar recently had a candid and fun conversation with Gulte Pro about their upcoming film Funky, changing audience trends, and the realities of surviving in the film industry.

Vishwak said that many of his so called experimental films actually turned out to be commercially successful. He spoke with pride about Gaami, saying it gave him creative satisfaction and also worked well at the box office.

Talking about the current cinema trend, Vishwak shared that audiences now come to theatres mainly for a grand or completely new experience. According to him, feel good or message based films are slowly becoming more suitable for OTT platforms.

Kayadu Lohar agreed and said today’s audience is very smart. After the rise of OTT, viewers cannot be impressed with simple labels like action or entertainment. She believes honesty in storytelling is what truly connects with people now.

The most emotional part of the interview came when Vishwak spoke about his early struggles. Before Faluknuma Das, he was once signed as a lead actor in a film and worked on it for four months. Slowly, his role was reduced. From main lead, he was pushed to second, then third position, and eventually removed from the project without proper communication. Vishwak said he cried that night, but that humiliation became the motivation to direct his own film soon after.

When asked about directors, Vishwak said he dislikes those who carry the attitude that they “made” an actor a star. He appreciated Tharun Bhascker for never taking credit for introducing many talented actors and for staying humble.

Speaking about Funky, the film is a romantic comedy set between Krishna Nagar and Jubilee Hills. Vishwak plays a director, while Kayadu plays a producer. The story promises a fun and relatable urban backdrop.

Vishwak also revealed details about his next directorial project titled Cult. He said it features around 150 new actors and called it his best work so far.

Funky is all set to release on February 13.
