Couple Friendly director, Ashwin Chandrasekar may be working in Tamil and Telugu cinema today, but he says his roots are clearly Telugu. He was born in Coimbatore and brought up in Chennai. Because his father worked for Doordarshan, the family moved often.
Interestingly, even after growing up in Chennai, he was not fluent in Tamil during his early years. That became a challenge when he decided to enter the film industry.
Without any film background, Ashwin searched for opportunities through social media and eventually joined director Pandiraj as an assistant. In the beginning, he struggled because of the language barrier.
Over time, he improved his Tamil and continued working in the industry. His journey from struggling with the language to directing his own film shows how determination helped him move forward.
Today, with Couple Friendly receiving appreciation, Ashwin looks back at those early struggles as an important part of his growth.
