Ram’s Supernatural Thriller Faces A Big Setback?

Despite traversing multiple genres in search of the elusive box office success, actor Ram Pothineni is unable to end his flop streak that started after the last commercial blockbuster, iSmart Shankar, which hit the screens in 2019. His previous outing, Andhra King Taluka, also gave no respite and ended in disappointment, even though it received positive talk and critical acclaim.

Meanwhile, there have been numerous reports since last year that Ram will soon jump on the supernatural bandwagon as he evinced interest to work on a horror thriller under the direction of a debut filmmaker. Renowned production house Arka Media Works, which bankrolled films like Baahubali, was supposed to back this interesting film which marks Ram’s debut into the horror genre.

However, the latest grapevine in the industry circles is that Arka Media Works has backed out from this project due to unforeseen circumstances. The reports further state that the project is very much on despite these initial setbacks as OTT giant Netflix Orginals is keen to take control and bankroll it on a grand scale once the final round of talks on budget and other production issues are sorted out.

Also, clarity on whether the film will a theatrical release or direct OTT release will emerge only after an official announcement is made by the makers.

Supernatural thrillers laced with mythical and commercial elements coupled with racy narrative and taut screenplay are making good moolah at the box office as audiences are lapping up such films bigtime. Also, this genre will be a complete departure from regular potboilers and romantic entertainers delivered by actor all these years.

So, it will be an exciting prospect for Ram at a time when he wants to make a strong comeback.
