Tamil star Suriya has a strong fan base in the Telugu states as well. But in recent years, consistent box office success has been missing. Though he tried different genres, the results in theatres were not as expected.
Films like Jai Bhim and Aakasam Nee Haddura received great appreciation, but since they released on OTT, his theatrical strength was not fully tested. Meanwhile, some of his commercial films did not perform well at the box office. Over time, family audiences slowly moved away.
Now, that seems to be changing. Suriya’s upcoming film Viswanath & Sons, directed by Venky Atluri and produced by Sithara Entertainments, clearly targets family viewers.
The first look shows Suriya holding a small child close to his chest, revealing a softer and more emotional side. The poster itself suggests that the film will focus more on relationships and family bonding rather than action.
The title Viswanath & Sons hints at strong family emotions. It is not yet clear whether Viswanath refers to Suriya’s character or someone else in the story, but the emotional angle is evident. The director has said that the film will balance friendship, love, and sentiment in an engaging way.
Before this film releases, Suriya’s other project Karuppu, directed by RJ Balaji, is also expected to hit screens. If both films release close to each other, audiences will get to see two different sides of Suriya.
