Kannepetta Controversy – Supriya Did The Right Thing!

Team Dacoit remixed the ‘Kannepettaro’ song for the movie teaser, and it received widespread appreciation. However, the original music composer Koti Saluri expressed his unhappiness about the team failing to inform him of the same.

Koti opined that it is their basic courtesy to inform the original composer, but it did not happen. Meanwhile, the film’s producer, Supriya Yarlagadda, shared her reaction to the same, clarifying the issue.

Supriya revealed that the anguish of Koti is valid and that no information from the audio company left him with that opinion. “Whatever he felt was correct, and I later went to his house to discuss the same with him. We took all necessary NOCs and permissions from the audio company, and they have to inform Koti garu, which did not happen. Both of us sat and laughed about this whole process,” shared Supriya, throwing clarity on the issue.

In fact, Surpiya has done the right thing by doing this. A lot of times, creators feel left out when their work is being recreated or remixed. When Supriya understood that Koti is hurt by the same, instead of stepping away, she chose to meet the original creator, explained the situation and made a pact with him. It is a healthy way of dealing such things and also respecting the seniors in the industry.

Even today, if Ilaiyaraaja is filing cases against several movies for allegedly using his work without permission, all he is trying is to seek some respect and courtesy over it. The makers of Mana Shankara Vara Prasad recently did the right thing by approaching Ilaiyaraaja to use the song, Sundari in the film.

Hopefully, more filmmakers follow a similar process so that the seniors are respected and there will be a healthy atmosphere altogether.
