Allu Cinemas will be opening its doors to the Patrons from tomorrow. The famous Dolby Cinemas will screen F1 and Avatar 3 as the test run and the other screens will have latest films including Dhurandhar. And then from 18th/19th, Dhurandhar 2 and Ustaad Bhagath Singh will take over.
So what is in store for Allu Cinemas?
Allu Cinemas has both pluses and challenges as it starts its journey.
The Biggest Plus Point is the Giant Dolby Cinemas Screen. The fact that it is the Biggest Screen in India will draw cinephiles especially those of Large Formats to theaters.
The watching experience there is spellbinding for sure. But there are certain challenges as well.
Allu Aravind sort of experimented with Allu Cinemas. In India, Multiplexes are located on the Top-most floors of big malls. The concept is that the patrons will walk through several floors containing many retail shops and so, they will make some purchases before going to the Cinema.
Thus, the Multiplexes will maximise the Revenue of the businesses in the Malls.
But Allu Cinemas has no other business except Cinemas. It follows the ‘Walk in and Watch’ concept like in the West.
You can just park your car in front of the theater and walk into the theater. Normally in malls, you have to run your car into multiple cellars and find your way up to the Multiplexes. This will take good 15 minutes to park and another 15-20 minutes to move out after you finish your show.
There is nothing as such in Allu Cinemas. There are no cellar parking. You can just park in the front and watch a film.
Allu Cinemas is located in Kokapet. It is a very far away from the West Hyderabad where the patrons of these Large Formats live. Kokapet itself is slowly booming into a hub of ultra-rich. They assume the population will be good enough for them.
The Successful Multiplexes like AMB and AAA are thriving not just because of the rich. AMB has Software Crowd residing in HITEC City, Madhapur, Gachibowli, Kondapur, Kothaguda. The radius is very high.
AAA thrives because of the students and common crowd living in Ameerpet, SR Nagar, and Panjagutta. Allu Cinemas does not have high radius of patrons or the common crowd. The nearest common crowd areas are Narsingi and Manikonda. We do not know if they will be enough.
But the mojo around the Large Formats will drive cinephiles crazy initially. But the question is how long will the excitement last. It will be the go-to place when big and event films come but will the audience be excited to watch normal films in such large formats? We will have to see!
Also, Allu Cinemas is the only Multiplex in that area. But very soon, some other Multiplexes are also coming. But not any sooner. So, until then, Allu Cinemas will have a merry.
As of now, the narrow approach roads of Allu Cinemas are traffic nightmares in peak hours. But then, the road-widening is already approved. Allu Aravind has given some land for the road-widening. So, the issue is only until the works are completed.
We are told that as much as 50 Crore was invested only for the Dolby Cinema Technology in Screen-1. As of now, Allu Cinemas is going for usual rates and did not get Special Rates from the Government. It will be very interesting to see how they break even.
But Allu Aravind is a mastermind when it comes to business. He definitely would not lose money in any business. He certainly would have did thorough research before investing a fortune there.
