Dhurandhar 2 is rewriting box office records globally, but its performance in the Telugu market has sparked an interesting debate. Despite strong collections, the film hasn’t created the kind of strong connection one would expect in the region.
One of the key reasons being discussed is the absence of a proper Telugu release for the first part. While the sequel arrived with a dubbed version, audiences feel the impact isn’t the same. If Part 1 had also been released in Telugu, the connection would have been much stronger, just like Kantara, which built a solid base across languages.
Adding to this, last-minute dubbing issues and delays affected the Telugu version’s reach during release, causing disappointment among fans. Some viewers also expressed concerns about dubbing quality, which further impacted the experience.
Interestingly, while the Telugu version is still performing relatively well compared to other South languages, the lack of emotional continuity from Part 1 seems to have limited its full potential. In the end, Dhurandhar 2 proves that even a blockbuster needs strong groundwork in every market to truly dominate.
However, the coming weekend could play a crucial role for Dhurandhar 2 in the Telugu states. With the latest Telugu releases failing to generate any significant buzz, the film has a clear opportunity to cash in on the box office.
If it manages to utilize this window well, the Telugu numbers could see a noticeable boost. That said, surpassing the all-time records set by non-Telugu blockbusters like Kantara 2, KGF 2, and Jailer in this market still looks like a tough task.
