It is always difficult to predict when and how a hero’s career will take a turn. Tamil actor Pradeep Ranganathan had limited popularity in Tamil Nadu until about four years ago. Today, he is a leading star who has delivered multiple 100 crore films. Not just in Tamil, he has also built a good following and market in Telugu cinema as a talented actor and director.
He first created a sensation with his self-directed and acted film Love Today and later enjoyed success with films like Dragon and Dude. Now, he is set to return to audiences on the 10th of this month with the film LIK.
For the Telugu version, Pradeep has been very careful about dubbing and promotions. He even wanted to dub his own voice for the film. However, he admitted that he had to step back as his voice did not turn out as he expected.
In the recently released teaser of LIK, it was revealed that he attempted to dub his own voice, following director Vignesh Shivan’s suggestion. Some Telugu audience who heard it appreciated the effort but advised him not to try again(He smiles). As a result, Pradeep had the role dubbed by certain artist this time.
Pradeep has expressed that he is not giving up and will keep improving his Telugu pronunciation so that in the future he can confidently dub his own roles and impress audiences.
Given the strong connection the Telugu audience has already formed with his dubbing voice, it was a wise decision to take this step gradually. A sudden change could have felt unusual to the fans, and avoiding that risk helps preserve the film’s impact.
