Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar’s next film, titled Bhooth Bangla, is tipped to be a horror comedy entertainer. The actor reunites with director Priyadarshan for this project, and the makers launched the trailer a while ago. It has the signature style of humor written all over it.
Interestingly, the film’s trailer is filled with a lot of nostalgic elements, with situational comedy bringing the quirky characters to create fun. The trailer showcases Akshay Kumar inheriting an old bungalow, with a haunted forest behind it. Eventually, Akshay Kumar’s character also gets married in the village of Mangalpur, where weddings have long been avoided.
Tabu is the surprise element in the trailer, and her presence adds an extra layer of intrigue to the audience. The trailer is well cut and gives the feel of a spooky, fun ride yet the core plot remains routine. The trailer shows eerie visuals balanced with lighthearted moments. Like all the usual horror fun films, this also follows a familiar trope.
Now comes the big question. The Bollywood audiences are too intrigued with a film like Dhurandhar and around this time, will they be equally invested in routine and flat horror films will be the big question.
Bollywood audiences always had horror as a parallel genre and we have seen many scoring blockbusters. Having said that, with changing trends and preferences of audiences, it wont be an easy walk for Bhooth Bangla.
Bhooth Bangla is hitting the screens on April 16.
