Director Harish Shankar was the Chief Guest for the Papam Pratap trailer launch this afternoon. During his speech, Harish made some interesting comments.
“While coming to this event, Sravanthi (Anchor) called me ‘Papam Harish.’ I initially thought she called me that because my film (Ustaad Bhagat Singh) did not do well in the theaters. Later, she addressed everyone with the prefix ‘Papam,’ so I thought it was okay,” Harish Shankar joked.
Harish Shankar’s Ustaad Bhagat Singh ended up as a disaster at the box office. The movie was delayed for several years and there are many reasons for its failure.
After the movie’s release, Harish Shankar spent several days retweeting positive reviews and giving Post-release promotions. People on social media were cursing Harish for staying away from reality.
But it appears Harish is aware of reality but he is only trying to push the film as much as possible from his side with those promotions.
Probably, in hindsight, Harish was correct. Even though the result looks clear, a director can not abandon the film. Social Media is wrong to call him delusional. Harish is definitely more talented than he appears today.
A delayed project like Ustaad Bhagat Singh and a project squeezed in as a filler (Mr Bachchan) are not right indications of his caliber. He is someone who remade a film (like Gabbar Singh) and made it even better than the Original.
People writing him off should actually wait for his next project. We will see if he can make a comeback!
For that to happen, Harish should close his eyes and ears for some time and work in peace to unravel his real strength.
