Star Hero’s Film Drowns in Vaazha 2 Wave?

As days change, content continues to dominate over star power, regardless of the industry. The same applies to Malayalam cinema, where a star like Tovino Thomas’ big film Pallichattambi is struggling at the box office due to mixed responses and, mainly, the wave of the blockbuster Vaazha 2.

Pallichattambi has had a modest run at the Kerala box office during its extended first weekend. Despite decent expectations, the film managed to collect around ₹9 crore in its first five days, indicating a rather underwhelming performance.

The film opened on a fair note on day one, but witnessed a sharp drop on the second day. The downward trend continued on day three before showing a slight improvement over the weekend.

Day four brought in a better response, followed by a jump on day five, taking the total to a modest figure. One of the major reasons for its struggle is the strong competition from Vaazha 2, which continues to dominate the Kerala box office.

The blockbuster performer has maintained exceptional momentum and pulled audiences away from new releases. While Pallichattambi showed minor growth over the weekend, the overall trend suggests limited traction among audiences.

Mixed word of mouth and the overwhelming success of Vaazha 2 have impacted its performance significantly. Going forward, the film will need steady weekday holds to achieve a respectable total. However, given the current scenario and competition, its box office journey looks challenging.
