Too Much AI for Mythology Is Not a Good Sign!

The upcoming hindi film Dronacharya is making headlines as one of the latest AI-driven projects in Indian cinema. Presented by Vibhu Agarwal and Kanhiya Mittal, and produced by Bharat NextGen Digital Pvt Ltd, the film is gearing up for a theatrical release in June 2026.

The trailer, which dropped recently, offers a glimpse into a technologically advanced retelling, with the tagline hinting at the legendary guru who “didn’t just train warriors, but created legends.”

While the concept has generated curiosity, it has also sparked debate. The increasing number of AI-based films in the industry is raising concerns among cinema lovers.

Particularly in the case of mythology, many feel that no matter how visually impressive AI-generated content may be, it often struggles to capture the depth of human emotion, an essential element in storytelling.

Experts believe that while adopting AI as a tool can enhance filmmaking, overdependence could dilute the emotional core of such narratives. The trend seems especially prominent in Bollywood, where new AI-backed projects are being announced frequently.

Recently, a glimpse from a South Indian franchise film was released, officially announcing the next part. While many fans liked it, a section of viewers criticized the heavy use of AI in the presentation, calling it awkward for such a much-awaited project.

Though the makers have not responded to the criticism, the backlash has already created a negative buzz around the franchise, which is not a good sign going forward.
