While promoting his upcoming film Jetlee, director Ritesh Rana dropped an interesting update about his next project. Known for experimenting with formats and genres, he revealed that he is now planning to move into a completely different space with a full-fledged horror film.
After carving a niche with quirky entertainers like Happy Birthday, Matthu Vadalara Ritesh Rana seems ready to step away from his usual comedy thriller zone. This upcoming project will focus purely on horror, aiming to explore fear in a more intense and grounded manner.
Ritesh Rana has said he wants to challenge himself creatively with this shift. Unlike his earlier films that balanced humor and chaos, this one is expected to lean heavily on atmosphere and psychological tension, offering a more immersive experience.
The director also feels that horror in Telugu cinema still has a lot of untapped potential. Instead of relying on routine jump scares, he plans to bring a fresh narrative style with stronger emotional depth and engaging storytelling.
Even if subtle traces of his signature writing appear, the core focus will remain on building fear and tension. This makes it a clear departure from his previous films, signaling a bold new phase in his filmmaking journey.
