Mythri Movie Makers is presenting the film Jetlee, which is releasing tomorrow across the globe. The movie has got a dismal release in Nizam region so far.
Mythri is standing firm against the theaters’ Percentage System of Revenue Sharing while Dil Raju and Asian Group strongly favor it.
Twenty-three theaters in Nizam have put forward the 60-50-40 Percentage Sharing Proposal and announced that this formula will apply to all releases after April 30th. The Active Telugu Film Producers Guild barring Dil Raju released a Press Note rejecting the proposal.
Asian & SVC have boycotted JetLee for refusing the Percentage Sharing Proposal. As a result, Jetlee has had a poor release. The movie is releasing in only about 20+ Non-Mythri Single Screens, with none in Hyderabad.
Asian/SVC Multiplexes including AMB and AAA, which generate major revenue also did not schedule the film across Telangana.
This is just a warm-up for the big boycott coming up for Ram Charan’s Peddi, releasing on June 4th. Mythri secured the Nizam rights for Peddi after paying a huge amount and cannot afford a curtailed release.
We spoke with someone in Mythri camp about this.
“There is no way we will bow down to these blackmail tactics. If we threaten to postpone Peddi for a couple of weeks, every single screen owner will fall in line. They are already bleeding and no one wants to miss a biggie like Peddi,” they said on the condition of anonymity.
They also believe that Dil Raju and Suniel Narang will not go against Peddi as it would look like they are going against Ram Charan and the Mega family.
Previously, when the Percentage System demand arose and there were threats of a theater strike, Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan thundered that it was a ploy to stop his Hari Hara Veeramallu release, and the issue subsided.
