Which Star Lady Will Grab the Golden Chance in Cult Sequel?

In 2018, Bollywood audiences experienced a one-of-its kind folklore thriller for the first time with ‘Tumbbad’, which was directed by Rahi Anil Barve and Anand Gandhi. The critically acclaimed horror fantasy didn’t gain much box office traction at that time but later emerged as a sensational hit when it returned to theatres in 2024 and punched solid revenues.

Now, the makers are gearing up to bring a sequel to this village drama and the anticipation keeps building even before the regular shooting gets underway because of its star-studded casting and hugs canvas. Already, versatile Hindi actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui has joined the sequel and sparked strong buzz on the sequel. The team has also announced that Tumbbad 2 will hit the screens on December 3rd 2027.

While the first part was made with relatively new faces, the team seems to be rising the stakes by bringing more prominent and top league actors on board, only for the hype to shoot up exponentially just before commencing the shoot.

As per the latest buzz in the media, the makers are considering big names like Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif, Alia Bhatt and Nayantara for a pivotal role in the sequel.

They believe that signing up and A-lister could expand the prospects of the sequel beyond Bollywood and generate ample hype in trade circles as well. But, it is unclear if any of these big-ticket artists signs the dotted line and adjust their dates to shoot for Tumbbad 2.

Tumbbad 2 will be helmed by writer and director Adesh Prasad, who worked on the script of the orginal along with other writers. He confirmed that the core plot and soul of the first installment will be retained for the sequel. He promised that the second part will be more immersive and haunting than the predecessor.
