Sai Pallavi’s Hindi Debut Turns Into a Forgettable Nightmare

Sai Pallavi’s Bollywood debut Ek Din is racing toward becoming one of the biggest disasters of the year. It failed to even collect five crores in its first weekend and is already on the verge of giving up by its second week.

The film, starring Aamir Khan’s son Junaid Khan, was dubbed in Telugu under the title Oka Roju. Except for major centers like Hyderabad, many fans are not even aware that the film released.

The blame largely falls on Aamir Khan. Even in today’s changing scenario, relying too heavily on remakes, and choosing such a project for launching his son, has turned out to be a blunder.

Junaid Khan, who is still at a very early stage in terms of looks and acting, was not suited for such a serious subject. That’s likely why they brought in a performer like Sai Pallavi.

She probably agreed because of the strong scope for acting. But in the end, the film has turned into a mega disaster.

The competing film Raja Shivaji did not really damage Ek Din; rather, it was the poor content that drove audiences away. If it had at least offered good songs and emotional depth like Saiyaara, it might have scraped through somehow. But Junaid’s film doesn’t come anywhere close.

As a result, audience rejection was inevitable. From a theatrical business perspective, heavy losses seem unavoidabl as buyers say even recovering half the investment would be a miracle.

Had Sai Pallavi debuted directly with Ramayana instead, it could have been a great memory for her. But agreeing to Aamir Khan’s request has backfired badly.

Ironically, just like her character in Oka Roju suffers from memory loss, audiences have forgotten the film within a single day. Promotions have currently been stopped, and there’s no chance of restarting them.

Since Fidaa, this has given Sai Pallavi her worst openings in the Telugu states.
