In a special interview for Gulte Pro, CV Rao from Annapurna Studios explained how their advanced motion capture stage is changing filmmaking and gaming visuals. The setup uses 64 high precision Vicon cameras placed in two layers to capture every movement with extreme accuracy.
Rao revealed that actors wear specially designed suits fitted with more than 60 reflective markers. These markers help the cameras track body movement in real time. The entire stage is calibrated carefully before every shoot to ensure flawless data capture for action sequences and performances.
The interview also showcased how captured motion data can be directly connected to any 3D character using Unreal Engine. Directors can instantly preview scenes, change camera angles, modify environments and even alter character designs after the shoot without losing performance quality.
Another major highlight was the facial capture technology using Head Mounted Cameras. These devices record detailed facial expressions live without delay, allowing filmmakers to monitor how digital characters perform during the shoot itself. Even props and virtual cameras are tracked digitally for complete cinematic control.
CV Rao stated that while AI tools are growing rapidly, high end filmmakers still prefer precision driven motion capture systems for uncompromised quality and creative freedom.
The Gulte Pro interview offered a rare behind the scenes look into how modern Indian studios are embracing world class virtual production technology.
