Heroines are the First Target of Producers In Cost Cutting?

Kriti Sanon began her career as a model and then turned a star actress. She later ventured into production as well. Interestingly, she recently opened up about the pay disparity she faced in the movie industry.

The actress revealed that it is always the remuneration of an actress that gets negotiated whenever producers wanted to undergo budget cuts.

“There’s been some struggle around money. When the producers have to cut money, they often negotiate down the female lead’s fee, even though a large chunk of the budget goes to the male actor. Patriarchy is deeply rooted in the film industry,” she said, adding there was an instance where a male star who isn’t superior got a better car.

Kriti stresses the fact that she is not bothered about the car but all she expects is equality in everything. Kriti is not a small heroine who started off recently but enjoys decades of experience along with a National award. Whatever Kriti revealed highlights how the female actors are always targeted first.

Even in Bollywood cinema, when it comes to pay cuts, the female actors are the fist victims.
