Sonu Sood

Actor Sonu Sood became a real superstar in Covid times. He has lent his helping hand to the needy big time in the critical times. Right from providing buses, transport to migrant workers in the peak of lockdown to contributing face shields, necessary safety equipment to Mumbai police to gifting a tractor to a poor farmer in Andhra Pradesh, Sood showed his big heart and proved he is a good samaritan. While Sonu Sood’s wealth has become a hot topic following his noble, generous acts, media reports stated that he has taken loan to help the people.

Sonu Sood reportedly mortgaged his eight properties in Mumbai to raise a loan of about Rs 10 Crore. This money is to help the needy people. As per reports, Sonu Sood has eight properties in Mumbai’s prime Juhu area including two shops and six flats in Shiv Sagar CGHS. Sood has mortgaged these 8 properties and raised the loan of Rs 10 Crore. Apparently, Sood entered into a mortgage agreement on September 15 and it was registered on November 24. Moneycontrol has accessed these documents. The reports also confirmed that Sood has paid Rs 5 lakh registration fee to raise the loan.

“Such a philanthropic gesture is unheard of. While these premium properties will continue to be owned by the actor and his wife and would continue to receive a monthly rental, they may have to pay interest and principal against the Rs 10 crore loan,” the report quoted Ritesh Mehta, Senior Director & Head – West India, Residential Services, JLL India, as saying.

In August, Sonu tweeted, “1137. mails 19000. fb messages 4812. Insta messages, 6741. twitter messages, Today’s HELP messages. On an average these are the number of requests I get for HELP. It is humanly impossible to reach out to everyone. I still try my best. Apologies if I missed your message.”

Sonu Sood’s generous acts have got him the prestigious SDG Special Humanitarian Action Award by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
