Shakeela Teaser: The Box Office Queen Is Back!

From the mid-1990s to mid-2000s, adult actress Shakeela was a rage in south Indian film industry. Especially in Malayalam, she dominated the box office even with the likes of Mohanlal and Mammootty. Simultaneously Shakeela faced huge criticism for doing bold adult movies, provoking the youth.

Based on the life of this sexy siren, the biopic is being readied and the teaser of ‘Shakeela’ is out. The teaser starts with the voice-over that says, “In the 1990s when the theatres witnessed empty seats, the exhibitors and distributors used to shot at one name and she is Shakeela. Similar situation is being witnessed in 2020 and the film needs her.”

Richa Chadha is playing the title role and the visuals show the evolution of Shakeela. Not just the adult movies, the teaser has how the audiences adored her and at the same time the public’s outrage. The film is packed with Shakeela’s shocking story of insults, betrayals from her own family members.

Directed by Indrajit Lankesh, ‘Shakeela’ is gearing for theatrical release this Christmas.
